Why You Should Accept Deologic:
The simple answer is this: humanity has never faced a more dangerous moment. Before this century is done we must solve the challenges of war by nuclear, biological and chemical means; climate change, ecological destruction, and overconsumption of resources. Only a rational, peaceful and cooperative humanity can rise to these challenges. Deologic offers humanity a platform on which to build this unity, and a mission to which it may aspire. Need More Reasons? Here Are Four:
Improve Your Mind: We are all surrounded by irrational beliefs. You can't open a newspaper without coming across horoscopes, turn on a television without seeing a televangelist, or open your mail without getting a flyer from some "New Age" healer. All of these are hokum, but who among us doesn't feel the tug of the transcendental temptation? Deologic, by marrying hope and reason, gives you the power to resist irrationality.
Gain Access to the Age of Discovery: We live in an extraordinary time. Science is approaching what may be the final frontiers of knowledge. Forget the phony "Bible Code." Our genome -- the code the really counts -- has been cracked. In physics, the riddle of matter and energy may soon be resolved by "superstring" theory. In fact, on all frontiers, science is making astonishing discoveries. This scares many people, and causes some to distrust science. Skepticism is good. The products of science, whether for commercial or governmental purposes, should be forced to prove their public worth. But wholesale rejection of science amounts to a personal and collective tragedy. Deologic allows you to keep your skepticism and yet appreciate the wonderous discoveries of science.
Discover True Purpose in Your Life: The deepest question anybody can ask themselves is: "Why am I here?" The answers provided by supernatural religion, if you think about them, just don't make sense. A perfect God wouldn't need worshipping (that's for insecure human leaders, on whom the ancient idea of "Our Lord" is based). Nor does it make sense to imagine that we are here just to suffer, as Buddhism suggests, or on a trial period to see if we are one of the few to qualify for heaven or the majority who are consigned to eternal suffering in hell. Even worse are the answers provided by totalitarian ideologies such as communism and fascism. On the other hand, the answers provided by secular humanism -- live in the moment and make up your own purpose -- are profoundly disturbing and unsatisfying to most of us.
Deologic gives us a clear purpose for our lives: we are all bricklayers, building the road to God. As PBS says, if we don't do it, who will?Save the World: Once you accept that it is highly unlikely any higher power will intervene in human affairs, you realize how urgent the need for action is. Natural resources are limited, and scarcity is an age-old cause of war. As the world becomes not only more populous but more prosperous, we are gobbling up resources -- everything from fresh water to petroleum to steel -- at a frightening rate. Simultaneously, we are destroying the protective cover of ozone in our atmosphere, heating the oceans and the air, and deforesting our planet. Our warmaking capacities have never been more dangerous. One way or the other, we're drifting to catastrophe.
Deologic sweeps away the excuses and false hopes and motivates us to unite and meet our mutual challenges.
